Made in India!

For many years, the 'Made in India' tag was not exactly sought after.

Today, 14 years later, India boasts of 16 companies that have won the Deming Award from the Japanese Union of Scientists and Engineers, 92 companies that have been awarded TPM (total productivity management) certificates from the Japan Institute of Plant Maintenance, and 21,313 ISO-certified companies.
In the auto components industry, amongst China, India and Thailand, India is No. 1 on the quality of products supplied and multinational companies have begun to see the benefits of sourcing from India.

General Motors and Caterpillar source radiator caps from Sundram Fasteners - the company has won GM's best-supplier award for three years. GM sources light equipment from Lumax.
Mitsubishi of Japan sources front-axle beams from Bharat Forge and Federal Mogul of the US sources components through a tie-up with the Anand group.

Chinese copy of Bajaj Pulsar banned

In a major victory for Indian automobile industry, Bajaj Auto Ltd (BAL) has been able to stop the import, marketing and sale of the copied version of its premium bike Pulsar in Sri Lanka.
The Chinese company, Taian Chiran Machinery Company Ltd, had been reportedly marketing a copy of top selling Pulsar in different Latin American markets under Gulsar brand and had launched it in Sri Lanka few months back under the Ranomoto brand.

BAL is already in battle with the Chinese maker for copying its products and even marketing them under the Bajaj brand.

Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) has already filed a complaint with the Chinese embassy over IPR violations and has also raised the issue on several bilateral forums.
SIAM director Sugato Sen said, "The problem is affecting the entire automobile industry in India. We have taken up the matter with the ministry of commerce and several trade bodies to settle the issue but are not aware of any action yet."
For BAL, the matter is far more serious than just copying. A similar look-alike of its three-wheeler model Bajaj Autorickshaw is being sold under the same name in China and despite following the lengthy process on IPR violations there has been no respite till date.

The one on top is the original and the one below is the cheap, shameless exact copy of the Pulsar. China has a long way to go in terms of creativity.

Secret Santa

A man known as the 'Secret Santa' who gave away cash to people during December each year has finally decided to reveal his identity after his health started worsening. Larry Stewart, a 58-year-old businessman from the Kansas City, suffering from cancer of the esophagus and the liver, has been the Secret Santa since December 1979.

He chose to give cash because that its something people don't have to "beg for, get in line for, or apply for."

General Thesis Statement Tips

• A thesis statement generally consists of two parts: your topic, and then the analysis, explanation(s), or assertion(s) that you're making about the topic. The kind of thesis statement you write will depend on what kind of paper you're writing.
• In some kinds of writing, such as narratives or descriptions, a thesis statement is less important, but you may still want to provide some kind of statement in your first paragraph that helps to guide your reader through your paper.
• A thesis statement is a very specific statement -- it should cover only what you want to discuss in your paper, and be supported with specific evidence. The scope of your paper will be determined by the length of your paper and any other requirements that might be in place.
• Generally, a thesis statement appears at the end of the first paragraph of an essay, so that readers will have a clear idea of what to expect as they read.
• You can think of your thesis as a map or a guide both for yourself and your audience, so it might be helpful to draw a chart or picture of your ideas and how they're connected to help you get started.
• As you write and revise your paper, it's okay to change your thesis statement -- sometimes you don't discover what you really want to say about a topic until you've started (or finished) writing! Just make sure that your "final" thesis statement accurately shows what will happen in your paper.

Why do people make so much fuss over one sentence?

No single sentence will pester you quite so much as the thesis sentence. Often you’ll find it is both the first sentence you write and the last sentence you re-write while constructing your essay.

Why so much fuss? Perhaps teachers make so much of the thesis statement because, if done correctly, it fills so many responsibilities.

The thesis statement must assert your point, suggest your evidence, and structure your argument, all in one. This is necessary for a good reason. If you can summarize your paper in one sentence, you’re more likely to have a tightly-constructed, concise, and readable essay.

Find a general topic for your paper, and then narrow it down.

The first step in writing an essay is finding a topic you enjoy.
